Why New Zealand
All eight of New Zealand's universities are ranked in the world's top 500, the degrees follow the British system, and the country has linked its post-study work visa directly to what you studied and where — up to three years after a Master's.
It is smaller and quieter than Australia, and for many Indian students that is the point: lower rents outside Auckland, smaller classes, and a job market where a graduate engineer, nurse, IT specialist or agricultural scientist is wanted by name on the skills shortage list.
Tuition is ₹15 to ₹30 lakh a year for a Master's. Auckland, Otago, Canterbury and Victoria Wellington are the names to know.
Life in New Zealand
Auckland is the largest and most expensive city; Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Hamilton are cheaper university cities. Budget ₹90,000 to ₹1.1 lakh a month. Most students share flats; university halls are common in the first year.
The country is safe, outdoors-minded and slow to rush. Flights home are long — that is the honest cost of the distance.

After you graduate
The Post Study Work Visa gives up to three years after a Master's from a university, open to any employer. Skilled work in a shortage occupation leads to the Accredited Employer Work Visa and, from there, to residence — which is why New Zealand is a migration destination as well as a study one.
