Medical PG in Germany

What this route actually is

Postgraduate medical training in Germany is paid employment, not a tuition-based degree. You work as an Assistenzarzt in a hospital, you are paid a salary, and after four to six years you sit for your Facharzt — the German specialist qualification, which is recognised across Europe and the Gulf.

More than 57,000 foreign doctors work in Germany, over 32,000 of them from outside the EU, including thousands of Indian doctors. This is a well-worn path, not an experiment.

Your MBBS is recognised — but you need Approbation

An Indian MBBS is accepted in Germany, but it does not by itself let you practise. Approbation is the state licence, and getting it is the whole of the work. It runs in five steps:

• German to B2, then C1 Fachsprachprüfung — the medical language exam. Both are required; the second is specific to clinical communication.
• Document submission to the state Approbation authority for equivalency evaluation.
• Curriculum assessment — your MBBS syllabus is compared against the German standard.
• If gaps are found, either the Kenntnisprüfung (a medical knowledge test) or an Anpassungslehrgang (a supervised adaptation period).
• Approbation granted — the full licence to practise.

What we do, and what you do

You do the exams. Nobody can sit the Fachsprachprüfung for you, and no consultancy can shorten the recognition timeline. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
