Frequently asked questions

Can I get into a German university with a 6 or 7 CGPA?

Yes, at programmes whose bar is within reach — Technical University of Munich, RWTH Aachen University and SRH University among them. Many private universities ask for a CGPA of 6 or more; public ones state a German grade, which depends on your pass mark.

How is my CGPA converted to a German grade?

German universities use the modified Bavarian formula: German grade = 1 + 3 × (best mark − your mark) ÷ (best mark − pass mark). A CGPA of 7 with a pass mark of 4 is a German 2.5; 1.0 is the best grade and 4.0 a pass.
